📜 History of Al-Hijra

Umar ibn Al-Khattab was the one who invented the Islamic calendar. He used the beginning of the calendar to determine the course of the migration. When the Prophet Muhammad received his first revelation from God through the archangel Gabriel, he immediately began to teach Islam. Because he spoke against the dominant faiths of the period, he was persecuted. But he had a strong will and great confidence in his God. His teachings quickly became well-known, and his following quickly grew. Prophet Muhammad moved from Mecca to Medina to build the first Islamic state in the world as Islam’s influence grew. One of the most significant occasions in the growth and subsequent expansion of Islam was this. But this Hijra is not the first.
Some of the Prophet Muhammad’s adherents moved to the Christian Kingdom of Aksum in 613 AD. Ethiopia and Eritrea today are included in this area. The goal of this occurrence, known as the “Migration to Abyssinia,” was to flee oppression by the dominant Quraysh tribe of Mecca.
