Dr. Margretta “Gretta” Madden Styles, RN, EdD, FAAN, a pioneer in the field of nursing certification, was born on March 19. In the 1970s, Dr. Styles began advocating for stronger credentialing criteria to authenticate knowledge. Later, she was a very important part of making the American Nurses Credentialing Center happen.
