The oil they discovered was hardly enough to last one day. Surprisingly, the oil lasted eight days before they could bring more to the shrine.

📜 History of Chanukah Ends

The festival commemorates Judaism’s long existence. According to the Jewish calendar, Chanukah begins on the 25th of Kislev and ends on the first of Tevet. The final day of Chanukah is the eighth day, also known as Zose Hanukkah, Zos Hanukkah, or Zot Hanukkah. Many Jewish ceremonies begin before sundown.

For many Jewish Americans, Chanukah is one of the happiest Jewish holidays. On this day, the majority of Jewish households burn candles on a candle holder known as a Hanukiah. They eat hot potato pancakes, exchange gifts, and play with a spinning toy known as a “dreidel,” which is especially popular during Chanukah. Several daytime and nighttime activities are held in the United States during Chanukah. The majority of food consumed is fried in oil. They often attend music festivals where people sing and spin the dreidel. There are athletic events in addition to concerts and plays.
