Countdown to Courtesy Week

Did you know: Courtesy, like friendship, charity, chastity, and piety, is a trait included in chivalry, or the chivalric code.

📜 History of Courtesy Week

According to the President, courtesy week is more suitable to be celebrated early in the year to underscore the necessity for government personnel to display courtesy in their encounters with the general public since it fosters more courteous and devoted service among government employees.

The decree No. 449 was issued in the capital city of Manila, which has recently been home to nearly 1.7 million Filipinos. Manila is a bayside city on the island of Luzon, the Philippines’ main island, and is divided into 16 administrative districts. Its tourist highlights include the 16th-century San Agustin Church and Fort Santiago, a famous castle and former military jail. Fort Santiago is in Intramuros, which is a walled-off area in the middle of Old Manila.

The Philippine Civil Service Commission is in charge of arranging and supervising the Courtesy Week event. The annual Courtesy Week celebration has been helpful in encouraging more polite and accountable interactions among government personnel. The effort coincides with the Philippine government’s adoption of the Anti-Red Tape Act (ARTA) to combat corruption and improve the conduct of its frontline workers in their service to the general public.
