On January 5, the Day of Dialogue, formerly known as the Day of Truth, is observed. It is the yearly event of the Christian organization Focus on the Family to encourage open discourse. Focus on the Family does not want anyone’s point of view (including the Christian point of view) to be suppressed, which is why they created the Day of Dialogue. The goal is that honest discourse takes place without any criticism of scriptural ideas.

📜 History of Day of Dialogue

Ideos’ documentary film “Dialogue Lab: America,” was published on 2022 Dialogue Day as an effort to establish common ground in order to build a brighter future. According to the documentary’s creators, 12 students “across the ideological spectrum” were videotaped “to come together in a dialogue experiment on political polarization.” Behind-the-scenes footage and a tutorial on “developing empathetic intelligence” are included.

Any Day of Dialogue implies creating a safe environment for people to talk about problems like diversity, fairness, and inclusion. Everyone has diverse viewpoints and ideas about subjects. This causes a growing schism between people, which can be bridged if we talk about it. Dialogue Day’s Our Stories campaign is a “chance for students to strengthen their skills in empathy and communication in the classroom, and model empathy for their peers on social media.” The goal, according to past organizers of the day, is to encourage young Christians to treat others kindly, even if they disagree with them. That is the essence of the issue: divergent viewpoints should not lead to divisiveness.

Listen to understand
People frequently listen merely to respond to the other person. Change it up on the Day of Dialogue. Try to grasp what the other person is saying rather than respond.

Learn from each other
We can concentrate on the response if we merely listen to the response. Because we pay attention to what the other person is saying when we listen to comprehend, we may learn from one another. We can all benefit from one another’s experiences.
