The inaugural Ghana Farmer’s Day was celebrated in Osino, a town in Ghana’s eastern region. Osino was picked as the main location since it had been the most severely hit by the drought. As a result, subsequent years saw celebrations staged in other locales that were also badly impacted. Several events take place during the day, the most important of which is an award ceremony honoring the greatest farmers and fishers. Throughout the year, judges take note of and monitor the development of all registered participants. Technological usage, husbandry, and ecological awareness are among the judging criteria. The winning farmer in the first year received a radio, Wellington boots, and machetes. The rewards escalated in value with time, and one of the most expensive awards was a three-bedroom mansion.
