📜 History of International Bat Appreciation Day

Human activities such as deforestation, mining, and irresponsible tourism have significantly reduced the bat population. Bats are frequently understudied and misunderstood. People sometimes think that they spread diseases, but in reality, they help get rid of many pests.

Between 2014 and 2018, the BCI identified 35 severely endangered bat species that needed to be protected. These species are found all across the world, including the United States, South America, and the Philippines.
