📜 History of International Bow Day

Over time, the cravat evolved into the bow ties and neckties we know today. Bow ties were an essential feature of men’s formal “full dress” clothes around the turn of the century, and by the 1900s, they had become a staple in any fashion-conscious man’s wardrobe. Bow ties were typically used by academics and medical professionals during this time period. After WWII, bow ties were worn less often in everyday life, but they were still nice for formal occasions.

In recent years, the bow tie has shed most of its “stuffy” image. A bow tie’s quirky and assertive design is finding a home in a range of both fun and formal contexts, from business to weddings to casual everyday wear, and is reclaiming some of its historic popularity among fashion-conscious men.

Traditional bow ties are typically one length and made to fit a certain neck size. As with a shirt collar, sizes can range from 14 to 19 inches. To prevent showing the buckle or clasp of an adjustable bow tie, use fixed-length bow ties with the most formal wing-collar shirts. When the tie is to be worn with a less formal, lie-down collar shirt that covers the neckband of the tie, adjustable bow ties are the norm. Adjustable, one-size-fits-all bow ties are a later development that aids in cost-cutting.

Ribbon, latex, plastic, and even grass can be used to tie bows. They enhance anything you put them on, in every circumstance. Bows are also used to knot presents, and we all know that presents are the best. They, like bows, may be anything.

What a lovely day that would be! You may also tie a bow to remind yourself of something, like a piece of red ribbon wrapped around one’s finger is usually done. This small reminder fits on your finger with its jaunty loops as a constant reminder of the little things you mustn’t forget.
