📜 History of International Day of Women Judges
The capacity of the court to make unbiased decisions is enhanced by having an equal number of men and women on the bench. Women judges bring a diverse set of perspectives and experiences to the bench, bolstering public trust in the judiciary’s ability to uphold human rights and the rule of law while representing the society they serve. When women are in leadership positions, they also help break up networks of corruption, which is good for the fight against corruption.
The inclusion of women judges in previously banned contexts has been a good step toward judicial systems’ being perceived as more open, inclusive, and representative of the people whose lives they impact.
