📜 History of Motherhood and Beauty Day

The kingdom was taken over by the Sassanid Persians in 25 and held until the Romans arrived in 287. Armenia was handed from one nation to another for ages, including the Byzantines and the Iranian Sallarid dynasty. Armenia became the first nation to make Christianity its official religion in 301. The Armenian Church eventually broke apart from the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox faiths. Following the Russo-Persian War (1826–1828), Russia seized Eastern Armenia, which became known as the Province of Yerevan. At this time, Armenians were seen as second-class citizens who couldn’t go to school or work in government.

Between 1915 and 1916, the Ottoman Empire began a systematic massacre of Armenians. During the Armenian genocide, about 1.5 million ethnic Armenians were slaughtered. After the Ottoman and Russian empires fell, a section of Armenia acquired independence. Armenia sought to build a federal state with other Caucasus provinces in 1917, but the republic was overthrown in April 1918. In 1936, Armenia became the Armenian Soviet Socialist Country, a constituent republic of the Soviet Union. Armenia gained independence from the Soviet Union on August 23, 1990. It wasn’t recognized as an independent country, though, until December 25, 1991, when the Soviet Union broke up.
