Alexander Graham Bell, a Scottish-born physicist, created the first working telephone and co-founded the American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T). Bell’s wife and mother were both deaf, which led him to do research and build hearing aids. This research eventually led to the development of the telephone. He got the first U.S. patent for the technique in 1876. Bell, on the other hand, thought that his invention was too loud and wouldn’t let anyone put one in his study.

Alexander Hamilton, one of the United States’ founding fathers, is credited with developing the American financial system.
