Saint Andrew of Troy was born in 235, Andrew I of Hungary was born in the 10th century, and Duke Andrew of Gaeta was born in the mid-11th century.
Since 1900, “Andrew” has consistently been among the top 100 most common baby names in the United States. However, its appeal was not limited to the United States. It was ranked 31st among the most popular baby names in Australia in 1940. It was ranked third in the United Kingdom in 1964 and fourth in 1974. However, it peaked in Scotland, where it was proclaimed the most popular baby name in 1993, with about 1,099 baby boys named “Andrew” that year.
