Candy corn started off as poultry feed and was only accessible between March and November. Originally, it was a form of mellow cream known as “Butter Cream Candies.” In the 1950s, the name was changed because the ads were misleading because it didn’t contain butter.

The original way of creating candy corn was to pour each color separately into molds, but this was a time-consuming operation. The ingredients were sugar, corn syrup, and water. Later, marshmallow and fondant were applied, followed by carnauba wax. Today’s dish is a lot like yesterday’s, and it gives us a lot of energy for trick-or-treating.
