National Cheese Fondue Day for the year 2023 is celebrated/observed on Tuesday, April 11th. There are until the next observance.

Every year on April 11, National Cheese Fondue Day is observed. Because cheese is such a popular (and tasty) component, this day commemorates a gastronomic festival that many people celebrate. Fondue is a melted cheese or other component meal served in a communal pot called the caquelon. This saucepan is set over a réchaud, a tiny portable burner. People then use long-stemmed forks to dip the bread into the cheese. Dip the meat, crackers, and veggies in the cheese as well. Cheese fondue is made with a combination of cheeses, wine, and spices. It is a popular dish that is offered in most restaurants and is simple to prepare at home.

📜 History of National Cheese Fondue Day

It is unknown who created the first cheese. According to some accounts, it was created by accident by an Arabian trader. As he walked through the desert, the merchant packed his milk in a bag constructed from a sheep’s stomach. The milk separated into curd and whey due to the rennet in the pouch lining and the heat of the sun. He discovered that the whey quenched his thirst and that the cheese had a delicious flavor that kept him content for a long time.

Eating fondue is associated with several distinct customs. The eating of the crispy cheese left at the bottom of the pot is known as’ la religieuse.’ Another tradition is what occurs when your piece of bread slips off your fork. If someone’s bread falls off, they should have to pay for a round of beverages for the table!
