πŸ“œ History of National Nothing Day

Here’s a fact that may appear to represent the concept of “nothing.” Every seven years, Martin Luther King Day falls on the third Monday of January. The event coincides with National Nothing Day, which appears to contradict the notion that there is nothing going on on National Nothing Day every year. Because MLK is remembered for his peaceful efforts throughout the Civil Rights Movement, many people may reject the concept of nothingness on this day.

Not only that, but there are additional holidays marked in opposition to the concept of nothingness. In contrast to National Nothing Day, the Realist Society of Canada (RSC) observes There’s Always Been Something Day, pronounced THABS, on July 8 to commemorate the “realization that if there was ever nothing, there would be nothing now.”

History is littered with philosophical and literary discussions about the study of “nothing.” Because nobody knows what nothing is. To find the meaning of nothing, one must first answer the question of nothing. Even the true nature of “nothingness” in outer space is a subject of debate among experts. Many say that even a space with nothing in it is not nothing because quantum particles still exist in space even though there is no gravity.

Promotion of National Nothing Day is somewhat paradoxical, considering the day is designed to be an “un-event,” which implies it should not be viewed as an event and refers to anything of no importance, relevance, or interest.
