📜 History of National Packaging Design Day
Some of the earliest examples of branded consumer packaging may be seen in the late nineteenth century, with the emergence of dual-use packaging. The tradition is still around today. For example, shoppers still use reusable tote bags from their favorite grocery stores that have their logos on them.
The first paper cardboard box was developed in 1817. It was a wonderful idea that resulted in the commercialization of paper bags in England. In 1844, England saw the first commercial manufacture of paper bags.
In 1852, an American named Francis Wolle created the bag-making machine, which paved the way for glued paper bags like the ones we use today. NABISCO manufactured the first branded consumer packaging in 1890.
Design Packaging established National Packaging Design Day in 2015 to raise awareness of package design, presentation, and its importance to a product’s brand. The Registrar of the National Day Calendar set May 7 as National Packaging Design Day on April 22 of the same year.
