📜 History of National Peppermint Patty Day

Peppermint patties and chocolates are sweet and delicious in and of themselves. We can’t imagine anyone saying no to chocolate flavored with mint or resisting the cool and refreshing sensation that peppermint provides. When you combine this with the creamy and melting texture of chocolate, you get some cool bombs with explosive taste. It’s no surprise that many people adore and want peppermint patties.

Peppermint patty day has a long history and was invented years ago. The Quiggin family, a Northern Irish Sea island, invented the patty around 1840. This patty manufacturing lasted until 1880, when the Kendal Mint Cake Company began a large-scale business.

In 1900, commercial manufacturing of Peppermint patties extended to other area candy enterprises. The most notable of these enterprises was the York Cone Company, whose initial product, the York peppermint patty, was famous from 1940 until 1972, when Peter Paul purchased the company and continued to sell the product for another five years before merging with Cadbury in 1975. The York peppermint patties were eventually purchased by Hershey in 1988, and manufacturing continues to this day. National Peppermint Patty Day is observed on February 11th each year.
