National Pierogi Day for the year 2023 is celebrated/observed on Saturday, October 8th. There are until the next observance.
Every year on October 8, we commemorate everyone’s favorite savory Polish dumplings (or Ukrainian “varenyky”). Pierogis were once considered a peasant snack, but they grew in popularity and spread to all social strata, including European aristocrats. We can understand why: they’re created with unleavened dough, boiled, baked, and fried in butter. Then they’re filled with the most delectable fillings: potato and cheese, potato and onion, cabbage, mushrooms and spinach, yum! The list goes on and on! If that isn’t enough decadence, pierogi are frequently served with melted butter, sour cream, fried bacon crumbles, sautéed mushrooms and onions, and/or green onions. Come celebrate with us if you’re craving pierogi!

Every neighborhood Polish restaurant serves pierogi, and we promise they have several distinct variations. Perhaps it’s time to go out and sample a dessert pierogi!

Go ahead and try your favorite recipe from the internet! Stuff them with whatever fillings you want: cheese, sausage, potatoes, or all three. There is no right or wrong method for making pierogi.
⚡ Throw a Polish-themed potluck
Invite your visitors to compete in making the greatest pierogi. It’s a terrific opportunity to become more acquainted with Polish cuisine, and the greatest thing is that you get to try them all! You have our permission to go insane.
