→ Did you know: In America, 350 pizza pieces are devoured per second.
📜 History of National Pizza Week
During the Allied Forces’ occupation of Italy, American soldiers stationed there ate a variety of Italian foods, but their favorite was pizza. When the war ended, they took the recipe with them, and so the American pie was born. Prior to this, only Italian immigrants in the United States and a few others who worked with the Italians ate pizza.
The newly introduced pizza recipe spread to the public, so much so that every street in the country had a pizza stall by the 1950s. According to statistics, 350 pieces of pizza are consumed every second from that point forward. This equates to 40 pizzas being devoured per second. It would be crazy to look into pizza for a whole day, but it is true that pizza is very popular in the United States.
With so much love and passion, it’s difficult not to have a specific calendar event for this wonderful thing. Therefore, we’ve set aside an entire week to commemorate it. Every year in January, National Pizza Week is observed, and it has been and will continue to be observed for as long as there are pizza lovers in this country. We applaud the anonymous creator of this fantastic week.
