πŸ“œ History of National Preschool Teachers Appreciation Day

This was a worldwide movement, and preschool educational institutions grew up all over the world. In French-speaking countries, Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, Poland, Russia, and Israel, there was the “crΓ¨che,” while others called these facilities “infant school,” “daycare,” or “day nursery.”

Johann Friedrich Oberlin is the name most educators associate with early childhood education. He was a French clergyman who created the first baby school, a “salle d’asile,” or “hall of refuge,” in 1767. His organization took care of and educated the children of ordinary workers and farmers, and it was copied in Berlin, Paris, and other places.

At the same time as baby schools were becoming more widespread in France, the Welsh benefactor Robert Owen established the first worldwide infant school in Scotland in 1816. This school was made just for the children of Owen’s workers. It led to the opening of the first infant school in London the next year, and then to the opening of infant schools all over England.

Soon after, early childhood educators began formulating ideas that guided how these infant care facilities taught and cared for their charges, and schools for young children sprung up all over the world. By the twentieth century, science and extensive research in the same subject had led the world to learn that young children begin developing from the day they are born, and that guidance throughout this period is critical.

The “Head Start” program began in 1965 in the United States, where kindergartens had previously been a well-established way of learning for decades. President Lyndon B. Johnson’s initiative would provide low-income children with early preschool education, health care, and nutrition. This was the first preschool program in the United States that was paid for by the government, and it was followed by a lot of other learning opportunities.

Preschool education is now regarded as an important component of children’s development, although individuals are not limited to one location. They can attend either official, state-mandated schooling or private institutions.
