📜 History of National Publicist Day

As a commemoration of the historic occasion, Jordanna Stephen, a well-known publicist, established October 30 as National Publicist Day. Every year since 2015, publicists have been recognized for their outstanding behind-the-scenes efforts.

On this day, publicists and others involved in public relations hold events, seminars, and conferences, as well as catch up on all that is going on in their field. Because publicists generally labor behind the scenes, it is a day for them to take a bow and applaud themselves for ensuring that people receive good communication. While public relations and marketing are sometimes confused, there are significant distinctions between the two. Their jobs have become increasingly important as the internet has accelerated the spread of news. In 1903, Ivy Lee worked as a press manager for Citizens Union, a political organization.

His “Declaration of Principles”
In his key work, “Declaration of Principles,” Lee expressed his profound philosophy for public communication in his key work, in which he asserted that public relations practitioners’ obligations extend beyond just delivering the client’s brief.

Pennsylvania Railroad hired Lee after the incident
Following the 1906 Atlantic train disaster, Pennsylvania Railroad hired Lee full-time as an executive-level position after being impressed with his communication skills.This was the first such appointment.
