📜 History of National Supreme Sacrifice Day

The ship capsized at sea, causing hundreds of people to perish in the water. Vanderbilt was determined to improve the fate of the wreck’s women and children by escorting them to lifeboats. In the end, he died saving these people’s lives, becoming a folk hero revered for his bravery.

Although this was the beginning of hero celebrations, the day was not formally titled or dated until 2004. This festival not only honors life-saving acts but also plant and animal rescues. During the 900-day military siege of Leningrad in Russia, Nikolay Vavilov, a scientist from the Institute of Plant Industry, was hungry. He and his coworkers didn’t eat or kill endangered plants that they were in charge of.

This resulted in their deaths. This sacrifice was not in vain, as farmers throughout the world received the advantages as species multiplied. This sacrifice also contributed significantly to the development of more plants that are resistant to temperature and pests. The commemoration of these people set in motion what is today known as National Supreme Sacrifice Day. This holiday also honors significant groups of individuals throughout history.

One of them was the English village of Eyam, which was the first to suffer the consequences of a pandemic. The residents of the village deliberately isolated themselves in order to safeguard the rest of the country. Even though the first version of this holiday started in the United States, it is now celebrated by people and groups all over the world.
