📜 History of National Yellow Bat Day

It later amalgamated with a branch of the Army focusing on military intelligence to become the United States Army Intelligence and Security Command. The 265th Army Security Agency was one of the ASA’s airborne units. The 101st Airborne Division included the 265th Army Security Agency. This Army was founded and activated on April 21, 1967, at Fort Campbell. During the Vietnam War, one of this division’s advanced units was stationed in Vietnam.

The 265th ASA company’s emblem is a bat. When we looked into why they chose a bat as their symbol, we found that bats are a symbol of mystery and secrecy, which makes them perfect for an agency that does surveillance and helps with intelligence.

To be effective, members of the unit must have the attributes of a bat in order to fulfill their slogan, “Through the Night.” The contributions of the 265th Radio Research Company (RRC) have not been made public for decades since their services were classified. In 2016, Doug Bonnot, a member of the 265th RRC, announced National Yellow Bat Day.
