📜 History of NCCA Anniversary

The foundation of the NCCA encouraged the cultural agencies affiliated with it to reassess their existing missions and activities in order to harmonize cultural service delivery. The Cultural Center of the Philippines (C.C.P.) was changed into the national coordinating center for the performing arts, with the goal of eradicating its “elitist” reputation through expanded outreach initiatives and cooperation with local arts councils.

On June 28, 2011, the N.C.C.A. erected the first “Sentro Rizal” inside the N.C.C.A. headquarters in Intramuros, Manila, to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Jose Rizal, a respected man with remarkable creative skills. Its mission is to educate Filipinos living in other countries about Philippine culture and arts.As of May 2016, there were 18 Sentro Rizal offices across the world.

Section 65 of the 2017 General Appropriations Act (G.A.A.) requires government entities that carry out programs and projects to transfer public money to civil society groups. As a result, the NCCA’s Board of Commissioners issued a resolution outlining the requirements for accreditation of persons, organizations, and government bodies in order for them to be eligible for funding. The N.C.C.A. provides grants to government agencies, civil society groups, people’s organizations, indigenous peoples organizations, and individuals; local government units; state universities and colleges; and public schools.
