📜 History of Playdate Day
Ilona Viluma, a mother and CEO of GIGI Bloks, created Playdate Day. She invented this day after witnessing how children’s use of technology has changed over the last decade. Instead of engaging with one another, children spend too much time on their phones and tablets. This holiday was created to encourage parents to have playdates with their children.
Playdates are an excellent way for children to develop social skills that will help them interact with others more effectively. When children engage with one another, they learn important life skills. Ilona and her company also support the idea of playdates by giving children toys like big building blocks that help them use their imaginations.
This day is intended to bring parents and children together while also sparking children’s imaginations. Parents plan playdates and educate their children on how to play safely and effectively outside. This day allows the kids to play outside and just be kids.
On this screen-free day, youngsters leave their devices at home and go outside to play with their pals. So, if you’re one of those parents who believes that their children should spend more time outside playing, this is the holiday for you.
