📜 History of Shivaji Jayanti

At the age of 17, Shivaji established the Maratha empire by taking the forts of Torna, Raigad, and Kondana. His coronation as Maratha emperor took place in Raigad in 1674, when he was 44 years old. There were 50,000 people in attendance. During his reign, he encouraged the usage of Sanskrit and Marathi at court. During his reign, he was a superb warrior and a wise king who managed politics skillfully. He was married four times and had eight children. He died in 1680, at the age of 50, of fever and dysentery.

Shivaji is a symbol of bravery, freedom, and the battle for independence. Lokmanya Tilak established the holiday in Pune in 1895. Shivaji’s achievements popularized the event, which is now widely observed in India.The festival is observed by gathering around Shivaji’s first capture and celebrating his activities and achievements. We admire his incredible feats at such a young age, as well as his superb battle tactics, which helped him establish himself as Maratha’s commander.
