📜 History of Steve Irwin Day

Steve’s family relocated to Queensland in 1970, where they established Beerwah Reptile and Fauna Park. The name was modified to Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park over time. The park is currently known as the Australia Zoo, and it was the zoo that established Steve Irwin Day in 2007.

Steve Irwin didn’t have a wildlife degree, but he had a lifetime of knowledge and experience. Steve grew up surrounded by animals, much like a real-life Mowgli or Tarzan. He was given a 12-foot python when he turned six. By the age of nine, he had wrestled his first crocodile under the supervision of his father.

In 1991, he married a lady who loved animals almost as much as he did, and video from their honeymoon (which was spent collecting crocodiles) was used to create the first episode of the TV show that made him famous, “The Crocodile Hunter.” The show catapulted Steve Irwin into the public eye, and he went on to become a cherished pop culture hero.

Steve Irwin was on a diving excursion shooting “Ocean’s Deadliest” on September 4, 2006, when a stingray penetrated his heart and killed him. Over 300 million people watched his public mourning ceremony across the world.

Steve Irwin was a conservationist who worked to protect endangered species and put a stop to unlawful poaching and land clearance, both of which might contribute to habitat degradation.
