Every year on March 10, Tibetan Uprising Day is commemorated. It is a commemoration of the 1959 Tibetan uprising against the People’s Republic of China’s occupation of Tibet. It is mostly marked by pro-Tibetan groups and people, and it is usually followed by a message from the Dalai Lama asking for more work to put Tibet back where it belongs in the world.

📜 History of Tibetan Uprising Day
As opposition to the Chinese occupation intensified, so did repression, which included the demolition of sacred structures and the incarceration of monks and other community leaders, notably in Eastern Tibet. The Communist Chinese government invaded Tibet in 1950, causing instability and hardship for Tibetans before the Tibetan government fell and the Dalai Lama and 100,000 Tibetans went into self-imposed exile in 1959.
Tibetans continue to speak out in support of independence even though they are being persecuted for their religion, losing their national heritage, and having their human rights broken on a regular basis.
Under international law, Tibet is still considered a sovereign state. Tibet’s sovereignty has not been given to China (P.L.A.) because of its violent invasion and continued occupation by the People’s Liberation Army.
All those who continue to support this cause think that Tibet will one day attain the independence it so desperately needs and deserves.
