📜 History of Transgender Day of Visibility

Rachel Crandall, a transgender activist in the United States, established this day in 2009 to raise awareness of the great weight of prejudice that the community endures in every setting conceivable. The necessity of a day of “visibility” for the transgender community reflects the discrimination they encounter in many areas of life. Crandall wanted to draw attention to the fact that the only transgender-centric day that is globally recognized is Transgender Day of Remembrance, which is held in memory of community members who have died, and that there is no day to honor surviving transgender people. By 2014, activists in Ireland and Scotland were observing the day, and in 2015, many transgender people participated in the occasion through social media campaigns. By publishing selfies and personal tales, they were able to make the day go viral.

As a result, every year on March 31, we remember and appreciate their achievements, triumphs, and unwavering perseverance in standing tall and strong in the face of injustice. We think that by having this Day of Visibility, we can teach people to be morally responsible and tolerant, and also get rid of restrictions on the rights of transgender people.
