The General Assembly’s recent resolution further emphasizes that any notion of racial superiority is scientifically incorrect, morally condemned, socially unfair, and harmful and must be rejected, along with ideas that try to define the existence of separate human races.

Since its inception, the United Nations has been concerned about this issue, and the ban on racial discrimination is inscribed in all basic international human rights documents. The equality principle also compels nations to take specific measures to eradicate situations that cause or contribute to the persistence of racial discrimination. The Week of Solidarity with People Struggling Against Racism and Discrimination is one of these activities.
