📜 History of World Kiwanis Week

The establishment of the Kiwanis Club in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, in 1916 marked the beginning of Kiwanis as a worldwide humanitarian organization. Kiwanis clubs were formed in communities across the United States and Canada until the organization was allowed permission to grow globally in the 1960s. Children in Kiwanis clubs are presently present in over 80 nations and geographical areas, aiding children in flourishing, prospering, and growing.

Participants from all areas of life are welcome to join the Kiwanis movement, which works to improve communities for children. In 1987, women were permitted to join the group. Delegates approved a resolution in 2008 encouraging Kiwanis clubs to acknowledge and promote inclusion among their members. Kiwanis is currently a worldwide network of clubs with over a million members. They are now widely renowned for their work with children. The organization’s current tagline is “Serving the Children of the World.” There are around 555,000 members dispersed throughout 80 countries. Kiwanis International, located in Indianapolis, Indiana, arranges around 150,000 service projects each year.
